Community
We are a small, independent business that values the community and the amazing people in it.
We love finding opportunities to connect with the community and establish new relationships with fellow businesses. Here’s some of the things we’ve enjoying being part of in recent times.
Astwood Bank Christmas Market and Lights Switch On

Litter picking with the Redditch BID
Thank you to the Redditch Business Improvement District (BID) team for organising a litter picking event to help keep Redditch looking clean and tidy this spring. Lots of local businesses took part over the course of the two week event and the difference was definitely noticed. We joined in one sunny Sunday morning in April and the kids absolutely loved it. In fact, Freya Bainbridge goes litter picking with her school and even asked for a litter picker for her last birthday!
St Leonard’s Church Fete
St Leonard’s Church is a beautiful church in the heart of the Redditch community. We’re proud to support them by donating prizes to their annual Church Fete. This year, nearly 2000 draw tickets were sold, raising £1800. Overall, the Fete raised over £3800 towards the work of the Church.

Lunch with Gyles Brandreth
As part of her professional writing sideline, Ella interviewed the brilliant writer and broadcaster Gyles Brandreth over lunch at the Optix Conference in March 2025. He is just as he is on TV – funny, friendly, and a true gentleman!
Christmas with The Grinch!
Harborne BID always make their Christmas Lights Switch On an amazing show! We invited The Grinch to our Harborne practice to have some festive fun with us on the high street. There was free face painting, games and activities in the practice for everyone to enjoy. It was great to see the high street full to burst with everyone enjoying the festivities!
Hits Radio
Flashback to one chilly Monday morning in Novemburr when Ella was driving happily on her usual commute to work. By chance, she tuned into The Breakfast Show on Hits Radio Birmingham. There was a feature playing called Marketing Monday where Producer Paul creates a humorous advert for a local business to help raise brand awareness. Ella decided to drop them a message and low and behold she got the green light to appear on the show at 8am the following week! Producer Paul’s masterpiece was to the huge hit Eye of the Tiger by Survivor and although the singing itself was purposefully dreadful, it was definitely catchy!
Naming a Puppy
After raising over £2,500 for the extraordinary Guide Dogs UK, we had the very special honour of naming a puppy! Thank you to everyone who donated and to everyone who suggested a name. We decided on (drumroll please)…. Maple!
Amy stumbled across the inspiring story of artist Paul Castle. Paul’s positive approach to living with degenerative eye disease Retinitis Pigmentosa has made him a popular digital influencer. With the help of his amazing Guide Dog and trusty sidekick Mr Maple, Paul is a fine example of how to live life to the full.
Colour Me Beautiful
Attention all fashion-forward trendsetters! Are you ready to take your eyewear game to the next level?!
Our Eye-Catching Eyewear Showcase proved our most popular event yet, with clients joining us for a day of style and sophistication as we showcased the latest and greatest in colourful eyewear. And that’s not all – the one and only Cliff Bashforth, managing director of Colour Me Beautiful Europe, was in attendance to offer his expert insight into colour analysis and styling. At the event, Cliff led small interactive group presentations, where everyone learnt how to choose the perfect shades for their skin tone and personal style. With his decades of experience in the fashion industry, it really was an exclusive opportunity to learn from the best. Thank you to everyone who got involved, we hope you enjoyed it as much as we did!
Jazzing it Up!
As part of The Birmingham, Sandwell & Westside Jazz Festival, we invited local folk and blues singer/songwriter, Sunjay, to perform in our Harborne branch!
Sunjay, from Brierley Hill, has produced six albums and supported the likes of Mud Morganfield, Albert Lee, Curved Air and Fairport Convention. He was a finalist in the BBC Young Folk Award, winner of the Young Performers Award at the Wath Folk Festival and nominee for both the New Roots Award at St Albans and the British Blues Young Artist Award. Our clients enjoyed a magnificent set accompanied by complimentary refreshments. It’s just our way of saying thank you!
Harborne Carnival
The Harborne high street came alive at the sizzling summer carnival! There were fairground rides, activities, market stalls and street food to enjoy during the event which attracted thousands of people to the area. We were in the heart of the action, offering you the chance to Win 5 Pairs Over 5 Years! Yes – you heard that right – one lucky person won the opportunity to have a completely free pair of glasses from us every year for five years!
Walk for Sight Concern – The Blindfold Mile
Sight Concern Worcestershire is a local charity supporting blind and visually impaired people. The event involved going out blindfolded for a mile to experience some of the challenges that blind and partially sighted people overcome each day. We walked in pairs – one blindfolded, one sighted, along a designated route, starting at St Stephen’s Church and taking in Heart of Worcestershire College, the Library, the Palace Theatre and the Kingfisher Centre. We swapped over along the way and undertook a range of tasks, such as buying a cup of coffee!
Macmillan Coffee Morning
We hosted a Macmillian Coffee Morning in both our Redditch and Harborne practices to help raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support. The team baked some of their own cakes and we opened the doors to both clients and passersby to enjoy a sweet treat and make a donation. It was great fun and for a great cause!
